My grief comes with fear

By: Diane Lang
Grief  brings up  a lot of emotions, but the one I feel the most is fear. When we encounter a loss of any kind, we can find ourselves stuck in constant fear because our comfort zone and norm has been shaken. The life we have known has been taken away from us without any preparation or planning.
Life has become uncertain. and uncertainty is what brings fear to the surface. It leaves us feeling vulnerable. We correlate vulnerability to weakness and the harsh words of judgment pop up in our minds over and over again. We can’t find the door that leads to our old comfortable life and there is no escape route so here we stay in our grief and fear.
Our best is to let go of the resistance and feel the fear and grief. That also includes all the emotions that come with it. Don’t run away from your feelings. If we try to avoid or deny them, we will prolong the pain and fear. When we remove the resistance, we release the stress and frustration.
Accept that this moment this is where you are but that doesn’t mean it means forever. It’s just where you are today. Tomorrow offers new hope and opportunities.
We all feel grief, we all go through changes and this will always cause fear. How long we hold on to the fear is up to us?
Remember, we have options. We can choose, to stop the resistance and accept our situation, feel the emotions that come with true acceptance and know that tomorrow is a new day.
